Children’s Yoga & Mindfulness

In these classes children practise yoga through play. It’s fun! That’s why children enjoy and benefit from the classes.

Erika calls on the group and individual creativity of students to create an atmosphere of togetherness, kindness, respect and inclusiveness. A Mindfulness program specifically designed for children by ‘Mindful Schools’ is included in each class.

The Mindfulness program and guided relaxation at the end of each class are the quiet and more serious components, and are often where we find the peaceful moments. At times these moments that the class share are deeply peaceful. These classes are inclusive of all children, and I teach to see the gold in all of them.

Mindfulness practices are helpful specifically for improving concentration skills and self-regulation (impulse control and emotional regulation). Yoga assists to balance and optimise children’s nervous systems, provide tools for self-calming and build breathing and relaxation skills.

Family Yoga & Mindfulness

Erika shares with families some of the ways that yoga and mindfulness can be weaved into the parenting journey.

These sessions are not about having any level of flexibility, strength or fitness; they are about connection and playfulness, breathing and peaceful moments. 

These sessions are a wonderful way for parents who already love yoga to share their experience of yoga with their child or children. These sessions are also fantastic for parents who would like to try yoga out and are curious about doing it with their family, or who would like to get in a little bit of yoga – with their children. For parents who are wondering how their children might enjoy or benefit from yoga or mindfulness, or whose child is asking to do it, these sessions are a great opportunity if you’d like to join them. 

Join us for a fun session of family yoga and mindfulness, and enjoy yoga time together with one or all of your family. All ages 0 and up are most welcome. Children aged 3 years and up generally engage in these sessions more readily than toddlers.


I asked John if he wants to come to your yoga and mindfulness class again next term and got a resounding yes from him.

Thank you very much for your great work with our children. John had us all, including his 2 brothers trying some of his yoga moves a few nights ago, none of us could do them and very impressed with him. He's loving it.

Erika is dedicated to sharing practices with her students that help in their everyday lives.

Erika started teaching yoga in 2010 after completing a Dru Yoga Teaching Diploma. She is dedicated to sharing practices and tools to both adults and children that can help them in their everyday lives. Erika has trained to teach children yoga and mindfulness, and has been teaching children since 2012. Erika truly values each individual – adult and child.
